History and uniqueness

This is a very old cheese : around the 13th century appears the word “fructerie” or “fruitière” (meaning small cheese dairies) where was already produced “large form” cheeses. A Comté wheel weighs between 30 and 55 kilograms.

Food

Mostly used melted, wonderfully suitable for cheese fondue, to season toasts and various dishes e.g. fish, potatoes and vegetables. This cheese gives the unique aftertaste for every meal you choose.

Drinks

Especially suitable with dry white wine or champagne e.g. Chardonnay, a Riesling grape variety, also plays great in tasting with red dry wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir.
